Teacup Candles
For my 21st last year I decided to have a tea party. It was so much fun but it meant that I had to collect a lot of tea cups, which are now sitting in boxes in my room. So this is what I have been doing with them…Making candles!
To make a candle in a tea cup you will need….
♥ A good length of wick
♥ Skewers
♥ A pretty tea cup
♥ Sellotape
♥ A candle to melt down
♥ The skills and equipment for double boiling..
Step One: Secure your wick
You wanna do this before you melt down your wax, becasue this is the hard part and then its out of the way :) Cut your wick to about the right size, but not too short, because you still need something for the skewers to hold onto. Pinch the wick between the skewers and use some Sellotape to hold it in place (then I usually tape the skewers to the teacup to stop them from moving around)
Step Two: Melt the wax
The next step is to melt down the candle. Because I used a big one I just used a hot knife to cut some off, instead of melting the whole lot. Double boil the wax until its all melted :)
Step Three: Pour the wax
You then want to carefully pour the melted wax into your prepared teacup. Leave this to set for a few hours (just to be safe).
Step Four: Cut the wick
Then you wanna cut the wick, I tend to cut it just above the skewers. Then un-tape and pull the skewers off.
Step Five: Burn your candle
Prrrreeetttyyy!
