Yixing teapot.

This is my sea dragon teapot from Teavana. Being as it is a Yixing teapot, it should only be used for one category of tea, or even one specific tea. The reason for this is that the unglazed, untreated inner surface of the teapot shouldn’t be cleaned with soap, and as a result, develops a patina on the inside that seasons it to one taste. Using a different tea after the pot is seasoned makes it taste like a combination of the teas, which can either be very interesting, or bad.

I think that this teapot will be for Chinese oolongs, unflavored ones. As “oolong” translates to “black dragon tea”, and I love wordplay, I feel it’s fitting.

The teapot holds 18 oz. and stands 5.5 inches tall at the lid, and is 7 inches from spout to handle.
